About this tour

Tour location: Located 75 km from Leticia on the Amazon and Javari rivers, between Peru and Brazil.

Day 1

Navigating the majestic Amazon River to join the Javari River on a journey of approximately 75 km, we arrive at the Zacambu Rainforest Lodge Natural Reserve, located amidst the jungles of Peru and Brazil. Upon arrival, enjoy hydration, lunch, and rest before starting a motorized canoe trip to the meeting of the waters. Here, we visit the natural breeding grounds of pink and gray dolphins, which gather to showcase their friendly nature and playful skills. Take the opportunity for a fun swim in the cool lake waters, accompanied by the dolphins, and surrounded by a breathtaking sunset landscape, perfect for capturing unforgettable moments. We return to the lodge at nightfall to rest. After dinner, we embark on an exciting motorized canoe adventure through lagoons and rivers, exploring the nocturnal wildlife, mysterious jungle sounds, and the habitat of caimans.

 

Day 2

Morning to enjoy an authentic breakfast.  Starting the journey with an exploration of the low jungle (by canoe during high water season), identifying flora species such as the rubber tree, renacos that serve as nurseries for insects and reptiles, giant trees, Victoria regia water lilies, and jungle fruits that sustain the fauna. Return to the lodge, followed by lunch and rest. In the afternoon, enjoy an exciting piranha fishing experience in the dark water lagoons formed by the decomposition of jungle leaves. After the activity, return to the lodge for dinner. Relax and enjoy a free evening with a delightful regional cocktail while listening to ancestral stories and legends shared by local inhabitants.

 

Day 3

After breakfast, we set out on an exciting exploration activity in traditional handmade canoes, navigating through the vastness of the jungle and entering various tributaries for a detailed observation of jungle wildlife. Expect to see a variety of birds, such as eagles, toucans, macaws, kingfishers, and many others, along with squirrel monkeys and the vibrant shades of green that make up the dense, living rainforest. Return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, visit the Tupi community, residents along the banks of the great Javari River. They preserve the stories and customs of their rubber or latex-working ancestors. Learn about their traditions, their harmony with the jungle, and their daily routines, including Arapaima or Pirarucu fishing. On the way back to the lodge, take a tour around the immense Jatimani Lagoon to enjoy a majestic landscape and create authentic memories while connecting with the Amazon’s biodiversity. Dinner follows at the lodge. and a free evening to enjoy the starry sky.

 

Day 4

After breakfast, we relax at the lodge, sharing knowledge with locals and learning the art of crafting with bark, seeds, and plant-based dyes sourced from nature. We then prepare to embark on an adventure into the grandeur of the jungle. After lunch at the lodge, we begin the journey, arriving at the campsite to set up the shelter with hammocks and mosquito nets, and light the campfire for an authentic meal preparation. Following dinner, we embark on an exciting night trek along animal trails in search of species such as anacondas, hunting snakes, tarantulas, and a variety of insects, making this a truly unique experience. Rest overnight.

 

Day 5

We begin the day savoring an aromatic tea while enjoying the jungle awakening, accompanied by the symphony of animals emerging from their nests and an incredible landscape. Return to the lodge, followed by breakfast, and set out for an exploration in traditional handmade canoes to experience a relaxing and welcoming environment. Return to the lodge for lunch and bid farewell to the vast jungle. Arrival in Leticia at 5 PM.
