About this tour

Tour location: Located 75 km from Leticia on the Amazon and Javari rivers, between Peru and Brazil.

Day 1

Departing from Leticia, we embark on a 75 km journey along the Amazon and Javari rivers, navigating the borders of Peru and Brazil to reach the Zacambu Rainforest Lodge Natural Reserve. Upon arrival, you'll have time to familiarize yourself with the facilities and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we take a boat trip to the natural breeding grounds of pink and gray dolphins that gather at the confluence of the rivers. Here, you'll experience a stunning sunset, offering the chance to capture unforgettable images and enjoy a refreshing swim. Dinner will be followed by free time and a delightful regional cocktail while listening to ancestral stories and legends shared by the local inhabitants.

Day 2

After breakfast, we depart along the tributaries to explore the heart of the flooded jungle, preserved with its own unique ecosystem. This area is home to natural sustainable zones with seeds, nuts, and insects, increasing the chances of spotting macaws, sloths, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, and capuchins. The journey leads to the swamp where the renowned Victoria Regia water lily, which can reach up to 2 meters in diameter, thrives. We then return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we embark on a canoe exploration through the tributaries of the Javari River to observe various species of wildlife inhabiting the freshwater mangroves and to enjoy the serene atmosphere. After dinner, we begin an exciting motorized canoe trip through lagoons and rivers to explore the jungle’s nocturnal life, the mysterious sounds of the rainforest, and the habitat of caimans.

Day 3

We begin with an early morning tour to enjoy the awakening of the vast jungle, adorned by the animals emerging from their nests, offering a detailed observation experience with binoculars. After breakfast, we relax at the lodge, engaging with locals to learn about their knowledge and craftsmanship, using bark, seeds, and plant-based dyes extracted from nature and incorporated into their cultural daily life. Following lunch, enjoy an exciting afternoon of piranha fishing in the dark water lagoons formed by the decomposition of jungle leaves. In the evening, after dinner, we embark on an exhilarating trek along animal trails in search of species such as anacondas, hunting snakes, tarantulas, and a variety of insects, making this a truly unique experience.

Day 4

Leaving the Zacambu Rainforest Lodge Natural Reserve, we embark on an exciting journey through the flooded jungle paths or along the majestic Amazon River. After traveling approximately 130 km, we arrive at the right bank in Colombian territory to reach the Nature Reserve Tupana Aru Ü, located in the heart of the primary rainforest. Our local collaborators will welcome you and provide all the necessary information for your stay. After lunch, we explore the surrounding areas, walking along trails to familiarize ourselves with the jungle environment and interact at our conservation lake, home to the largest scaled fish in the Amazon, the Pirarucu. Here, you will have the opportunity to feed them and observe their unique way of life and reproduction. After dinner, we begin a nighttime exploration to appreciate and learn about the nocturnal environment. This experience engages all senses: listening to the mysterious sounds of nocturnal species, experiencing the unique aromas of the jungle that activate at night, and feeling the tranquil yet mysterious atmosphere.
